Hello and welcome to the gallery wall! This section is a celebration of students creativity and aims to display how hard work and imagination can create a true masterpiece! I hope you reflect on the ideas behind each artwork my students have created and that it inspires you to lead with creativity and learning in your own classroom!

The 'diving deep' section of our classroom is a collection of topics we've covered along the Unit. Students utilize this wall to revisit important content areas and to help them better understand what they are learning throughout the week. Students pass by this wall on their way in and way out the classroom, which helps them further retain knowledge through the process of repetition. Students think of this wall as a summary of content learned which helps them better prepare for formalized assessments.

This artifact was produced by 6th graders to display the process of Beach Erosion. Students used scientific thinking and problem solving to display how they intend to slow down beach erosion. As a group, they combined ideas to create an interactive model on how beach erosion occurs and their plan of action to solve the issue. They later presented their ideas to the whole class using scientific evidence and research.

For this project, 6th graders collaborated to discuss Global Warming and Ozone depletion. Students recognized how the different spheres of the Earth interact to influence the weather and climate of the region. They then worked with their group to discover how human activity adds to the naturally occurring layer of greenhouse gases, which leads to a rise in temperature. As students discovered the consequences of global warming, they began to propose solutions in an individual and holistic level.

For this activity, 7th graders created a model to display the layers of Earth. First, students compared and contrasted the structural layers of Earth's interior. Then, they individually created their own artifact using paper plates to display how the composition is different from one another. During this activity, students approached the topic with deep curiosity and were excited to show their knowledge through a creative outlet.

At the end of every Unit, students create a Mind Map to create a visual diagram of the important concepts they have learned. During this activity, students are brainstorming new ways to organize information and connect ideas. For this activity, students will use a blank page, add image examples and outline keypoints. This mind map serves as a visual reference sheet that helps students build on their prior knowledge.

As a group, students researched evidence of species change. This project enhanced collaboration and team building skills as students furthered their understanding of the Theory of Evolution, Adaptation and Extinction. Students were given ample time to utilize their textbooks, classroom tablets and engage in discussion of how they will present the topic to the class. They then took turns teaching the group and checked for understanding by engaging the group with a game of their choice!
